When I saw Final Fantasy in Cincinnati, Owen told me that his next album was going to be far weirder than the compositions on He Poos Clouds. It’s curious, then, that “Flare Gun” is just as digestible, if not more so, than his last album. It’s melodic, with a great composition of a piano bass line and a sharp violin compliment.
