I had kind of lost track of You Say Party! We Say Die! until they went on tour with Thunderbirds Are Now! last year. Now that they’ve released their new album Lose All Time in Canada, they popped back on my radar again. The album’s a delight, and this song is one of the reasons why.

That’s right; three exclamation marks Chk Chk Chk is nowhere in sight. Still, YSP!WSD! do a good job creating a dance-punk vibe with the breathless energy of “Downtown Mayors Goodnight…” It’s got a great keyboard/guitar combination that recalls Thunderbirds Are Now!, but really gets its strength from the city life lament of the lyrics: “Stars burn so bright / Much better than neon light.”
