Pink Nasty and The Black played last night at Memorial Hall. Unfortunately I don’t have any good photos, and I have nothing more profound to say about it than “they were very good and I wish more people had been able to see them,” so I probably won’t do any sort of write up about it. However they were nice enough to give me their album, so I’m able to write about one of my favorite songs of theirs!
MP3: The Black - Eshu Blues
It’s tough to do the blues originally or well these days. But it seems the bands who have the most success with it are the ones who don’t dwell on creating originality, but instead find it through an exporation of what it is that makes the genre so great. On “Eshu Blues,” the Black create a whole mess of goodness by getting down and dirty with some blues-pop in the vein of the Yardbirds or the Who.
