Kevin Barnes Talks New(er) Album

March 29th, 2007

From WB
“I’m working on a new album now. It will still be poppy and melodic, but more fragmented in its structure. I’m stepping away from the pop song template. I am going to create a bunch of 30-to-50-second sections and string them all together. I don’t think there will be any pauses between pieces. I want it to feel like one long piece with hundreds of movements. The tentative title of the album is Skeletal Lamping.”

Sounds like the only way he could possibly follow up Hissing Fauna…. In the mean time, they’ll become a karaoke band in NYC as well as doing a tribute show in Athens with Elf Power and Dark Meat.

While I’m on the subject, this has been bothering me for a long time now. I need to know which of these songs is telling the truth.

MP3: Of Montreal - You Are an Airplane
MP3: Guided By Voices - You’re Not an Airplane

On one hand, Of Montreal’s song is longer — and therefore more likely to be true. However, he does say he likes to pretend that you are an airplane. Of course Guided By Voices don’t actually say anything about airplanes at all.
