SXSW: Richard Swift @ The Mohawk

March 19th, 2007 · No Comments

Unfortunately for me, I didn’t know who Richard Swift was before his show at the Mohawk on Thursday. But while they were soundchecking, he kept playing the intro keyboard lick to “Songs of National Freedom,” and I was pretty much hooked from then on out.

I didn’t get to stand still for all of his set, as I ran into the Apples in Stereo — fellow wayward Lexingtonians, and later Page France, who are apparently Richard Swift’s #1 fans. Apparently not only is Richard Swift sure to be a critic’s darling, he’s also a musician’s musician. That’s kind of like being a man’s man, but with a guitar.
