Pulp Fiction as Typography

February 23rd, 2007 · Comments Off

You can view it in better quality or download it as a MOV here. Somebody […]

Golden Bear: “Galaxy Queen”

February 22nd, 2007 · Comments Off

Golden Bear’s last album was pretty nice. Good orchestral pop with a decent head about their shoulders. Well, yesterday(?) I received their follow-up and let me tell you, it makes good on all their promise.

Of Montreal: “Green Typewriters IV”

February 19th, 2007 · Comments Off

OK. There are a few times that it’s permissable to get really, really excited. One of those times is when Of Montreal covers anybody — they’re the best in the biz for chosing and executing great live covers (lately: “Moonage Daydream,” “F*ck the Pain Away”). The other time is when anybody covers the Olivia Tremor […]

Brown Recluse Sings: “Calm Before the Storm”

February 18th, 2007 · Comments Off

It’s that time folks. After my site was down for two days, I wasn’t able to do my weekly rant about how 2007 is the best musical year ever. I received Brown Recluse Sings’s new EP, Black Sunday, in the mail (and gasped out of surprise and excitement) and have been playing it ever since.
