The freedom of information on the internet is both a blessing and a curse. Case in point: this new live Of Montreal cover. Now, part of me is thrilled to have it and will no doubt wear it out over the next two months; but then I think how I would have reacted if I had heard it live, with no expectations of doing so. Now I know I’m going to expect to hear it, just as I did with last year’s Gnarls Barkley and Brian Eno covers. Still, not even a lack of surprise can keep me from loving this all-too-perfect cover. It’s Of Montreal at their glam-rock finest, in the middle of their true element: a live performance.
