Enon: “Ashish”

January 14th, 2007 by Matt

New Enon material! Woo! I don’t know how it took me so long to find it, but I finally stumbled across these two live recordings from the Touch and Go 25th anniversary party. Thanks to Bradley’s Almanac for the MP3s.

MP3: Enon – Ashish (new, live)
MP3: Enon – Which Way To Go (new, live, Big Boys)
I’ll save the in-depth analysis (well, at least glimmeringly superficial) for when I finally get a studio cut; but for now, I’ll say that “Ashish” is the energetic, art-rock piece that you might have come to expect from Enon. But curiously — also true to Enon form — it’s impossible to pin down into a neat category. It bleeds over, genre-jumps and ends up as as song that could wind up being the next in a long line of their great works.

In related Enon news, they had to cancel their tour dates. Bummer and a half. They were excellent at Desdemona.
