When it comes to the current Canadian music scene, Frog Eyes are the granddaddy. They practically created the catchy, weirdo-rock that the rest of their contemporaries are gaining noteriety for. So with “Idle Songs” they’re playing off their strong points: the drums are still a’drivin’ and Mercer’s still frantically breathing his lyrics in your ear the way that your lover might–you know, if your lover were kinda weird and in Frog Eyes.
