Pink Nasty: “Don’t Ever Change”

November 18th, 2006

The other day I was driving around and heard this excellent duo between Pink Nasty and Will Oldham on WRFL. I told myself that I had to run out and grab it as soon as it was available. The next day I received it in the mail. I figure as long as my wishes are coming true, tomorrow I’m going to ask for a pony.

Sara Beck–a.k.a Pink Nasty–could not be a more perfect musical fit for Will Oldham. Maybe it’s because she’s spent time in his backing band, but I doubt it. “Don’t Ever Change” has the kind of chemistry that you can’t manufacture; not even with time and proximity. No, it’s the product of ineffably beautiful songwriting and that certain je ne sais quoi that you just can’t fake. However you want to look at it, it doesn’t change the fact that Pink Nasty is the real deal.

Yesterday I posted a French band and celebrated my girlfriend’s birthday while she’s in France. Today I’m posting on a duet featuring a Kentucky resident and celebrating the birthday of another Kentucky creation: my blog! Happy second birthday to You Aint No Picasso! I’ll be celebrating by seeing Califone tonight in Lexington.

The Light Footwork are going to be doing an on air performance on the radio on December 13. Tune in if you’re able!
