Robert Schneider (Apples in Stereo, Marbles) told me this past May that he hoped to eventually release an album of children’s songs. Now it looks like he’s starting to get serious.
Writing under the name Robbert Bobbert (”If the number of B’s in a name represented fun, Robbert Bobbert and the Bubble Machine have cornered the market”), Robert is continuing his trend of kid-friendly tunes and collaborations. In the past he’s recorded “Liza Jane” for a charity comp, written a song about the Powerpuff Girls and has reportedly made appearances to play for schoolchildren. Seems like the next logical step to me.

Until more things start to take shape for Robbert Bobbert and the Bubble Machine, you can do one of two things: look forward to the new Apples in Stereo album New Magnetic Wonder, or listen to two of Robbert’s kid tunes at Robbert Bobbert’s Myspace.
