I feel as though I’ve just been a party to payola. Not because Middle Distance Runner included a (losing) lottery ticket in their package, but something far worse. You see, in exchange for writing about them…I received a CD with some wonderful pop tunes (Sorry. We studied ethics in Journalism all today and it’s on the brain!).

Middle Distance Runner sounds like that one local band you always thought would blow up, but never quite did. “Naturally” is like Self or Minus Story, complete with light keyboard and gentley sung vocals. And like any good pop song, it excells at the choruses. THe more open the narrator gets, the more the words jumble together until eventually the chorus has to be untwisted and rolled out.
