Of Montreal will be playing a FREE show this Friday at the University of Kentucky thanks to WRFL. In honor of this, I figured I’d post a cover they did of Supergrass’ “Alright.” Seriously, best American live band?

Every time I’ve seen Of Montreal, they’ve rocked us with a perfectly chosen cover. In Newport they did The Apples in Stereo’s “Seems So” with Robert Schneider (one of my best concert experiences) and an Eno cover, then in Covington and Louisville they did their take on Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy.” But this is nothing new. They’ve been doing the covers thing for quite some time, and have been doing it well since the beginning. On “Alright,” Of Montreal not only nail it (minus some mumbled lyrics), but add a bit of themselves to it as well. I’m not kidding when I say that they’re the best live band in America.
