Sunday, I saw the following things: a puppy play xylophones, a brontasaurus rock the bass, slammin’ hip hop lyrics from a bee, a bear beat the drums and a lobster guitar god. While it might sound like something out of a Hunter S. Thompson acid trip, it’s actually the live show of Lexington’s own Jacob and the Furries.

Formed with their costumed antics in mind, Jacob and the Furries take groovy, rocking instrumentals and either use them as an excuse to dance or drop some hip hop stylings from Queen Bee Emily Foerster. It’s cute, forceful and downright impressive. I have no problem going on record saying that they have one of the best live shows in Lexington–and that was only their second time playing live.
