Benni Hemm Hemm: “Sweaty in the Sunshine”

August 20th, 2006 · No Comments

About a week after I first blogged about Benni Hemm Hemm’s “I Can Love You In A Wheelchair Baby” I received their self titled release in the mail. As you might imagine, it’s every bit as great as that song hinted.

MP3: Benni Hemm Hemm – Sweaty in the Sunshine
“Sweaty in the Sunshine” begins in the same manner in which cartoon children are likely to wake up on the first day of summer vacation. A smattered drum roll serves as the alarm clock, and gradually intensifying trumpets are the first glimpses of sun peaking in through the curtains. It’s curious that this song is second-to-last on Benni Hemm Hemm’s album, after a few listens, it seems more about beginnings that endings. Maybe we’re supposed to be left thinking about all the new things beginning, rather than the old things ending. That’s a comforting thought.
