Before I announce the winner of the Satanic Twins vinyl contest, let me explain my choice of Of Montreal song. I dedicated this on WRFL yesterday to my friends in the studio (all girls) who were playing “Sexyback” on Cameron’s laptop. It was originally a sarcastic comment on what the song makes me want to do, but I quickly remembered how much I love their cover of Yoko’s song.
MP3: Of Montreal - I Felt Like Smashing My Head Through a Clear Glass Window (Yoko Ono)
I’ve never been a fan of Yoko Ono. No, it has nothing to do with the “she broke up the Beatles” cry that so many seem to offer up, but rather it’s that I really don’t enjoy what I’ve heard of her music. It’s more watching her ruin one of my all time favorite songs. But hearing her lyrics sung by Kevin makes them both palatable and enjoyable. “I Felt Like…” is sad, powerful and vivid–all qualities that it draws from one thing, the song’s lyrical honesty. It’s like Yoko laid down on a therapist’s couch, and put the results on tape.

And now the announcement. The winners of the Satanic Twins contest (who have already been emailed) are Ichang and Hurley. If that sounds like you, be sure to check your email. Either way, you can still stream the entire album.
