With a name like Benni Hemm Hemm I just had to check them out. They’re billed as focusing on trumpets, but with this tune, the focus is on the vocals and (curious) lyrics.

On this particular tune, Benni Hemm Hemm sound more akin to a European Stephin Merritt (Jens Lekman?) than anything else. It’s a silly song about love that’s wonderfully crooned–perfect to contrast the curious subject matter. The best part about said subject matter is that no where in this song does lead singer Benedikt ever say that he is actually in a wheelchair. Rather the topic is broached as a “just in case” conversation. Still, it must be comforting to know that even partial paralysis couldn’t stop their love.
