I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Michael Nau is rapidly becoming one of today’s most prolific songwriters. As if he weren’t content to record and release an album’s worth of Page France material every year, he’s also doing solo work as Cotton Jones.
MP3: Cotton Jones – Miracle Bound
Cotton Jones is almost like the older brother of Page France. His life wasn’t as easy, and that comes out in his songs. With his band, Michael sings about windy days and springtime. With Cotton, his songs are still mostly optimistic, but with an unusual backing. “Miracle Bound” wouldn’t be out of place sitting next to Nau’s other work, but it’s far more junkyard than “Junkyard.”
Other Matt has a new Thunderbirds Are Now! song for download. On a related note, I could disagree more with Pfork’s assessment of “Panthers in Crime.”
If anyone is interested in taking part in helping someone’s thesis for their masters, here’s your chance. This fellow from England is “examining the changes in music consumption, discovery and recommendation, through the advent of blogging and online communities.” If you want to help him out (or just want to force your opinions on someone who will put them in print form), contact them at idanafek @ googlemail.com
