I’ve only been up for a couple hours, but today’s already a good day. My sweet Asthmatic Kitty shirt arrived (pictures later), I got some very promising looking cds, and I got one that I knew would be quality: the new French Kicks album, Two Thousand.

Part XTC, part Walkmen, French Kicks are a whole new beast on their new album. “So Far We Are” is sun-drenched pop song that’s beautiful in its simplicity. Riding along on nothing more than two chords, an excellently restrained drum beat, and a melody that recalls XTC at their finest, it’s a shame “So Far We Are” wasn’t released a few months earlier. We only have a handful of great summer tracks, so we have to get as much enjoyment out of them as we can.
