I’ve been trying to read the book Fluke–a present from my co-DJ Cameron–all this week, but have had little success. Lately music has been shoving literature into a little corner in my schedule. But you know, when the music is that of Harper Lee, it’s not so bad. Plus, that’s kind of like mixing literature with my music, right?
MP3: Harper Lee - He Holds A Flame
Keris Howard really likes the Magnetic Fields. At least, that’s the initial assumption that I made after listening to “He Holds a Flame.” It’s like the solemn side of Morrissey and the romanticism of Stephin Merritt got put together in a mason jar with just the tiniest bit of The Lucksmiths, and was left to ferment for a couple years. Upon opening said jar, you’d be pleased to find Harper Lee’s newest EP, “He Holds A Flame.”
Michael Nau from Page France is putting new songs up on his other, other band’s Myspace page: Cotton Jones. Check out “Miracle Bound” and tell me he isn’t one of the most amazing songwriters out there today.
