Casper and the Cookies: “Yer Birthday”

June 26th, 2006

Well folks, today is my birthday, and as such I’ll be posting whatever songs I feel like. Hopefully I’ll get one or two more up before I have to heard over to The Dame to catch The Late B.P. Helium (who features Capser Fandango on guitar, strangely enough) and Thee American Revolution. I figured a great way to kick it off would be with Casper and the Cookies’ “Yer Birthday.” How appropriate.

MP3: Casper and the Cookies - Yer Birthday
With an intro that’s every bit as cute as Suburban Kids With Biblical Names’ “Rent a Wreck,” Casper and the Cookies begin the presentation of “Yer Birthday.” If this song were a present to someone–which I like to imagine it was–it’s the adult version of a paiting for your parents; it’s cute, heartfelt, creative and personal.

Other Matt and I agree: he just posted one of the best songs we’ve heard in a while.

The newest blogger to get profiled over at Muzzle of Bees is my fellow University of Kentucky-attendee, Nate from IGIF. Don’t be fooled ladies, he’s not nearly as charming in real life.

Eric from Marathonpacks linked to one of his former students’ blogs: The Anchor Center. It’s a video blog that splices live footage with band interviews; think of it as like Indie Interviews for the eye.

IGIF does a post called “50 Fine Lines.” No, it’s not about cocaine; it’s about fifty awesome songs!
