Headlights: “TV”
May 23rd, 2006 by Matt

All things come to he who waits. After a musical drought last week, it looks like there might be a flood of great music on the horizon. The herald? Headlights’ new album, Kill Them With Kindness, one of the year’s finest blends of pop likeability and poetic honesty.
MP3: Headlights – TV
I have no idea how musicians are able to balance all the things they do within one song. I mean, you have to pack in a catchy melody, memorable lyrics and good instrumentation within three minutes. When you think about it that way, it’s amazing any music ever gets made. It seems quite a daunting task, but for some reason Headlights make it seem easy. Most of the lyrics on Kill Them With Kindness are so simple and honest that you can’t help but connect with them upon the first listen. At this rate, Erin Fein –Headlight’s female vocalist–is bound to wind up joining the ranks of such powerful voices as Amy Millan and Jenny Lewis.
Seriously, is that not the best cover artwork all year? She’s talking flowers while shooting daggers. Samantha Grasso totally won me over with this one.
