I love simple things. For that reason, I love Bears; simple name and relatively simple pop music. It’s catchy, happy and lovely. Their self-titled debut album recalls the tenderness of twee, the poeticism of Morrissey, and the pop stylings of many of the bands on Matinee.
MP3: Bears - Everywhere
Often my daily problem is finding a band that’s good enough to post on YANP. Not so today. Today my problem was deciding which song off Bears’ album to post. Finally I settled with “Everywhere,” a delightfully soft pop song that is most likely what The Boy Least Likely To use to lull themselves into a peaceful slumber. Much like The Boy Least Likely To’s subject matter, or Morrissey’s poetic sensitivity, the song is delicate without being immature.
Don’t forget about the show next Monday, May 8th with Robot Ate Me, Oh No! Oh My!, Jason Zavala and Sure Juror! More info can be found here.
