While I doubt the backlash will be as strong as it was for my XTC admission…I’ve never really listened to The Black Heart Procession before today. But after receiving their new album, The Spell, I can say that I’m happy to have remedied that situation.

I’m sure you’re all sick of hearing me talk about how a certain song is made to be listened to during springtime. Well here’s a bit of a reprieve. “Not Just Words” is made for the night. Very few of the songs I play on my radio program fit my 3-6am time slot. I mean, come on. Indie pop in the middle of the night? But I think this song was made for insomniacs. The violin and piano perfectly compliment some excellent vocals in a way that sounds almost like a dark Arcade Fire–it straddles the line between sinister and beautiful
