Am I that far out of the loop that I didn’t even know Amy Millan of Stars and BSS was going to be releasing a solo album? This is the first sample from it, and it seems like she’s off to a darn good start.

Oh sweet departure! Rather than trying to rehash her other bands’ material, Amy’s stepping out a bit. While I find myself drawn to this song more than any of BSS’ work (I’m an indie failure), I’m not sure if I can point out exactly what it is that I like. She sounds like a more typical Feist, or a less folk Cat Power. In short, she’s a girl with a guitar–and man is she talented.
