The Boy Who: “Marvelous and Magnificent”

Hiatus. What an unhappy word. For bands it usually means ‘we’re too nice to announce our breakup.’ Hopefully that’s not the case here. I just found out that one of my favorite little treasures, The Boy Who, was going on haitus. Hopefully this won’t be the end for a band with such potential; but such is the way of indie music.

While it seems silly to think of this song in this manner, but I can’t help but think of what a great bridge it provides between The Boy Least Likely To and Brendan Benson on my iTunes playlist. It’s got TBLLT’s whimsy (and banjo!), and a flair that reminds me of Benson’s expert songwriting. It’s a dash of pop mixed with folk sensibilities–what more could you ask for?
