The Robot Ate Me: “On Vacation”

March 14th, 2006 by Matt

Since I’m getting all hot and bothered over the upcoming release of The Robot Ate Me’s new album, Good World (release date: sometime in June), I figured I should do a little catch up for everybody who hasn’t heard them.

MP3: The Robot Ate Me – On Vacation
I’m in love with this intro. The drums and strings mirror a frantic, strained breathing pattern–kind of like the rush you would get if you were to drop everything to go on an emergency vacation like this song suggests. The funny thing is, the verses seem to be the meaningful call to action, but it’s actually the chorus that cuts all the strings holding you home. Forgetting material posessions doesn’t really ruin a vacation. As the song points out, we can get those at any store. But there is one thing you can’t buy: good company. You’ll notice that he’s not inviting someone to go on just any vacation–he’s inviting them to go on one with him.

The Robot Ate Me News:
Good World will be released in June on 5RC, with a vinyl preceeding it on Swim Slowly.

TRAM are setting up a tour for April/May. If you absolutely must have them play at your birthday party, I suggest you email Ryland with the address found here.
