MP3: Of Montreal – More Noir Blues and Tinnitus
Excuse me if I show my true musical colors, but I vastly prefer the pop side of Of Montreal. They have a tendancy to get into repetative, ‘trippy’ songs that really can’t hold my attention. This song drags on a bit too long for me to consider it anything other than a somewhat interesting throwaway song. Not only that, but Kevin is a brilliant lyricist. So why would he not try to beef up a musically weak song with head scratching, puzzling lyrics?

Oh, and don’t forget about the other, better new Of Montreal song that premiered here at YANP.

MP3: Of Montreal – Psychotic Feeling

Both of these are from the new tour-only EP that will be available for purchase at Of Montreal’s winter tour ’06. Check the tour dates here.

Stereogum has a link to stream the new Cat Power. I about flipped when I logged into Myspace yesterday and she was the featured artist. What a crazy past two years it’s been for indie music.

I think I actually like “More Noir Blues and Tinnitus” better–well, if it would have ended about a minute and a half earlier. Definitely goes on too long.
