New Melody Function Song: “Roucoulement”

December 31st, 2005

The Melody Function are from Lexington, Kentucky. This means that I’ve had the fortune of catching their concerts many times (often for free!).

MP3: Melody Function - Roucoulement
When I replied to TMF’s email, I described the song with a word that apparently was exactly what they were shooting for. That adjective was ’spiffy.’ I think you’ll agree that this tune definetely fits the bill of a spiffy song. My only problem is that while singing in French is cool, it makes my mind try too hard to translate it (which is rough, considering I’ve only had two years of high school French). It’s a little too much work for listening to a pop song. However, the melody and instrumentation are cool, so have at it!

The Melody Function will also be playing at The Dame on Jan 11th.

Oh, if all goes as planned, I should be posting my top albums/songs of 2005 on New Years Day. I’m forcing myself not to get too wordy with them. After all, you’ve heard it all from countless other blogs. In fact, here’s a good summary/compilation of a lot of blog’s year end lists.

Can anyone tell me if Mothers Against Noise is a joke? If it isn’t, I’m actually kind of upset with them. I really don’t like noise, but to equate it with the fall of greco-roman culture is hilariously stupid. My money’s on a joke though. I mean, they kinda take a crack at Sub Pop pretending they’re an independent label. What middle-aged mother knows what Sub Pop is, let alone is hipster enough to say that?
