From the looks of this song, Man Man‘s new album is going to be spectacular.
MP3: Man Man – Engwish Bwudd
I’m of the mind that the inclusion of bits of traditional songs can spice up songs and even be a little cute. This song is no exception. The chorus (if you can call it that) is the easily-recognizable ‘fe fi fo fum, I smell the blood of an English man,’ of which it makes good use. ‘Engwish Bwudd’ runs the gauntlet between a romping barroom singalong and a tune that wouldn’t be out of place in a musical like Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. As long as you’re not expecting a traditional YANP-style pop song, I highly suggest it.
In a strange coincidence, Man Man are also the interviewees over at Indie Interviews today. Cue the twilight zone music, people.
NOTE: I got my wisdom teeth pulled today (all 4 of them) and I’m kinda not in a posting mood. So if I should go until tomorrow afternoon without an update, I’m sorry. I’m sitting on the sofa watching Arrested Development with a pound of gauze in my mouth. It sucks because I can’t really laugh without it hurting :(
