A Time To Be Thankful

November 24th, 2005

In the spirit of thanksgiving, I decided to do a little mini post about blogs for which I am thankful. Please add other blogs in the comments that you love or run.

Gorilla vs Bear
I was reading GvB before it was cool….HA! Oh man, sorry, I had to take that opportunity. Forgive me, Chris. Anyways, GvB has blown the heck up and is now one of the most influential music blogs on the ‘net. Chris keeps us coming back by consistantly having the best info and music around…. Or maybe it’s the crack.

Skatterbrain
I first met Matt on Myspace and took great pleasure in the fact that we had similar tastes in bands. So when he told me he was starting a blog, I was immediate interested. Highly recommended for fans of Amnesiac-era Radiohead and Of Montreal.

My Old Kentucky Blog
People who read MOKB go there for more than music. They go because it’s a sense of community. Dodge always peppers musical posts with a little bit of personal feeling to allow his readers to get to know him.

Largehearted Boy
LHB is to music news what Tivo is to your favorite shows. He scoops up every interesting bit that he comes across and displays it easily for your viewing pleasure. This blog is surely a national treasure by now.

Brooklyn Vegan
I try not to be a jealous person, but sometimes I am. Case in point: reading New York blogs like Brooklyn Vegan. He’s got the greatest concert pics from the best shows (nearly every day, it seems) and he’s always on top of things. Oh to live in NYC!

Said the Gramophone and Fluxblog
I don’t know why, but STG and FB were two of the last blogs I started reading. Talk about going in reverse order. Anyways, they were two of the first, and they’re still two of the best.

Indie Interviews
When I interview bands, I’d rather die than post the audio. I’m a stuttering, bumbling mess (just ask Apollo Sunshine lol). Well thankfully not everyone is, because Indie Interviews has made a nice niche out of posting podcast interviews.

So there you have it. A short list of blogs I’m thankful for. Like I said, please add any of your favs in the comments. After all, this is the season to start sharing ;)

PSE: Oh, I also am thankful for The Light Footwork. You can preorder their spectacular album at their website, or sample a couple mp3s here.
