The Blow
September 30th, 2005 by Matt

So the cool cats over at the SUF have introduced me to The Blow. Imagine sugary-sweet songwriting in the vein of All Girl Summer Fun Band, but even more catchy. As the title would imply, the songs on Poor Aim:Love Songs are a unique or funny view of love, often with hilariously memorable lyrics. “Hey Boy” won me over because it doesn’t try to be anything spectacularly grand. It seems like it wouldn’t be too out of place on 69 Love Songs. Ah…love songs. I have such a soft spot for you.

Hey! I love your blog and I’m sorry this doesn’t relate to this post, but do you ever plan on sharing the Kingdom of Spain video from the September 12th show at the Fillmore by the Decemberists? You said you would if you remembered to, so I’m hoping you will!!

wow, surprised you’re coming late to this party, but glad you’re on board. she’s incredible live if you ever get a chance to see her (rare outside the pacnw I know). she comes off like a female version of beck from back in the good ol’ solo days, and her stage presence is more charming than most I’ve seen. check out her old stuff under the moniker ‘get the hell out of the way of the volcano’ as well. totally different, non-danceable style but equally endearing.

But don’t forget the other half , Jona Bechtolt… the drummer of the blow and devendra banhart… but more importantly the solo artist Y.A.C.H.T. he is great!!!!! there is a super cool video that he and E*Rock (from audio dregs) did for the blow.

I just saw them live last night and it was fucking awesome. She’s adorable and opens the song What Tom Said About Girls with her telling a story from her dream, and then these beats came in out of no where it was just ..great.
Also she is really awesome at thrusting her hips on stage.
