Clap Your Hands Say Yeah

So these guys are everywhere now. I first heard about Clap Your Hands Say Yeah from I Rock I Roll who has been singng their praises for quite some time. But suddenly they kinda…exploded. Pitchfork warned that they may cause uncontrolable bodily fluid leakage. The NY Press got all hot and bothered as well. So obviously there has to be SOMETHING there.

Their new self titled album is getting all kinds of wonderful reviews, and for a good reason. Of the few tracks off it I’ve heard, none have been bad. They seem to fill a niche that was sorely lacking in the New York area – smart yet simple. As for a musical comparison, let me just say that it looks like someone out-did the Arcade Fire in trying to be the Talking Heads. More power to ’em, I say.

MP3s:
Upon This Tidal Wave of Young Blood (Talking Heads, anyone?)
In This Home on Ice
Over and Over Again (Lost and Found)

  1. Great band, great album. Everyone should support this unsigned band (not for long) and buy it from their website…

  2. terrible. with this, art brut, and lcd soundsystem getting rave reviews from pitchfork, i’ve begun to doubt pf’s judgement in all matters.

  3. The album is ordered……. (and the t-shirt) I’ve heard the album in full through other means of course, and it is fantastic, this, Cocorosie and The Boy Least Likely To are the best of this year so far I think.
